Hey guys. I'm new at this site (at posting cuz I read posts and stuff all the time for my regular EVH research) and I have a question. Does anyone have a picture of Ed with the 5150 and its case? or does anybody know for sure which case he used for the 5150? I know he used an old Anvil case for the Franky, but I've never seen the Kramer's case. The reason for this question is that I'm gonna make a 5150 replica and I want to get as accurate as it gets, all the way to the case.

Thanks!!!! Smile

Never thought the 5150 Kramer had a offical case.....I read...he just threw it in the back of his pickup....and drove to practice.... Very Happy

Yeah I've read about that too, makes me cry every time Crying or Very sad Laughing But then I thought "He can't drive his pickup all over the world for his tours!" Confused ... I have a pic of Ed in 1978 (I think) carrying a vintage tweed case, which I suppose was for his Franky (when it was black and white)... So I was just thinking that maybe someone could have a picture of the backstage which shows the cases he was using at the time (during the 5150 era which is 86'-90's)

as far as I know there is no official case that Ed used for 5150. It was thrown into a standard Kramer type case that was large enough to fit the oversized headstock. I used a Kramer case for my 5150

Just get a Kramer case that fits the 84 / baretta guitars. If you go with anything else you run the risk of having it be too short to fit the long headstock. Kramer case is the way to go and most likely what Ed used because he was working with Kramer at the time and he surely used one of their cases.

my 2 cents.

Rob

Thanks guys! I was thinking about doing something like that... I guess I'll just have to wait till one pops up on eBay or something... I'll be on the look-out Shocked I'm gonna make it out of a Musikraft basswood body, maple neck and a Seymour Duncan JB... I hope it's done by the end of the month Very Happy

I keep mine in one of these cases when they are home. If I take it out, I'll use a normal case.
