Quigon you definitely have some beautiful replicas thanks to the amazing steve on the greates franky ive seen.
Did you do the 5150 or? That one looks stellar too.
And I definitely like the inlay work on the ibanez, esp, or custom built guitar
How you been Steve??
Any word on when a possible #3 is coming? I know you said it's in the works. Cuz that will hands down probably be the best build/ replica and it will probably blow this site down IMO |

I'm a big fan of the Ibanez stuff too, and that's such a choice specimen.
Tell Nix about the inlay, QGF...
I've been doing some juggling similar to QGF actually... but hanging in there.
I've definitely been pondering that #3 build... no firm thoughts on that timing, but it's something I definitely want to do.
Thanks for the kind and encouraging words, too.
Cheers

Interestingly enough, Steve may be as much responsible for that Iby being in the family and it's look as QGS itself...
I began looking seriously at Iabanez to be my next/last non-replica guitar almost exclusively because of Steve's enthusiasm for the brand. that's not to say that I hadn't been impressed by my own experience with these slippery fast low to the lowest action wide-necked beauties, but in getting to know Steve, I began (and continue) to take his preferences and instincts on such things as much to heart as my own.
I think I've told some of this story before on the thread, but lets suffice it to say that when I found the Ibanez Pretige guitar before you and it was love at first sight, but I wanted to add a little more of a customized look. Specifically, I wanted the tree-of-life style inlay on the board. So Steve (as usual) led me toward a solution. The inlays you are noticing in that pic are foil-based super thin decals that are applied direct to the rosewood. Steve had use these same ones on a couple of his, and I was impressed by how well and how natural they showed.
Steve: Guru. 'Nuff said. |

Or perhaps you prefer...
So as not to upset the theme. As yo usee, I still struggle with the D@#% photography. These images were as sharp as a razor on my view screen - blurred in the final presentation, ugh... |

I have an Ibanez RG1527RB 7-string onto which I'd put that J-Custom style PET (substrate) vine decal set... and was very happy with the result.
My ongoing communications with QGF led to sharing the results of that in pictures... and there we go.
That's another great trio shot, btw.
I like the way the reds compare; 5150 leaning a little into the orange part of the spectrum... looks right together. |

I thought the same thing... Would not want to push QGS toward the orange at all... IMHO. |

Personally I. Think the 5150 is more red than anything. Example, watching some of the old vids, where there on the big stage and he's playing frankenstrat I think he has white on.
The guitar doesn't seem to have a tint of orange on it at all. But with the seymour shots, it somewhat does. But I think its either from the red fading a tad and allowing the white to make the red a bit more lighter. Could be why it has an orage tint some times. Or its just the lighting in general. But that trio of guitars looks great.
Maybe I'll have to try that stuff out. On my esp ltd Vb 1000 |

The red colours are amazingly subjective based on the conditions of viewing, both in person and in photography/video captures...
What I believe is that, if we could see the 5150 sitting with Ed's Baby under good lighting, with a current-spec camera, I think we'd see a difference in colour characters quite similar to what I see in QGF's partial-family pictures.
QGF may be interested to know that I'm currently jonesing for a non-Ibanez for the first time in ... I don't know how long; quite some time, though.
Now I'm talking full-on working toward trying to acquire this one, including pondering what I have that I'd be willing to part with gear/instrument wise in order to facilitate this rather fat purchase...
Hmmm... Clydesdale 10-space rack case, with Rocktron/Bradshaw RSB-18 switching system set up in there... a guitar or two that I could ultimately replace down the road, likely with improvements... hmmm.
I'm not generally one for trading/selling off and such, but this instrument has gotten under my skin, reasons not entirely known to me or anyone else =] |
