Funny, but in 30+ years of playing I've never actually owned a US Strat. Made plenty of copies though as we all have. So I thought to myself the other week that whilst I'm still gigging regularly and am not in need of the walking frame yet to stay upright on stage I'll go get myself one as a last hurrah as such.

Gotta say I'm wrapped.... absolutely loving it! I haven't played with single coils for so long I can't even remember. I'm getting such a punchy clean tone that is so bell-like at mid vol on it that then takes your head right off when I wind it up to 10. I was expecting the dreaded single coil hum as well but nope, nothin.

Very happy camper Smile

In my opinion, the Stratocaster is the greatest guitar ever invented.

I love my 2 American Stratocasters. Excellent looking guitar. How about you making a video/sound?

Funny I have been looking for a telecaster over the last few week.

Very Happy

to be honest, look wise I wasn't a fan either. I wanted the vintage 6 screw look. However after playing around with it it's got far greater tuning stability. I've also read some good posts on a Strat forum regarding loosening the high and low E screws on the vintage trem so it pivots more and tightening the remaining 4 middle screws for stability. I wasn't into the Fender 1/8" off the body pivot initially but darn it it worked and I did some pretty full on dives and it stayed in tune. I've since however taken it back flat to the body, purely since i drop D for a few songs and when it pivots like that dropping the E down sharpens the remaining so per song tuning was a bit iffy.

Funny to see that you're now doing that because I felt the same way for a long time. I have an old 62' Re-Is that I was going to put locking tuners on. When I couldn't get the ones I wanted right straight away, I op'd to put back the original Klusons type tuners and have a go at keeping this thing in tune. I found out about the loosening of screws,...but I heard it another way where you actually loosen the middle 4 quite alot and only the outer two a bit......"to-mae-to, to-ma-to"..... Wink

You should also try adjusting the claw and aligning up the winding around the posts. Thsoe 3 things will do the trick....
