Yeah, me too. Just more of a fan of the old Dokken stuff more than anything since it's what I grew up listening to.

Here's a pic of my main stereo rig. The 5150 combo is not hooked up.

But I just got a Marshall 2x12 cab over the weekend to use with my 5150 III and my 5150 combo for a smaller stereo setup.

It's nothing special but my lowerback is going to thank me. I'm 38 and I rescently went to the doctor cause of back pain. He diagnosed me with arthritis in my lowerback! I was shocked. It's definitely from dragging around halfstacks the last 20 years. Got it for a really good deal at GC. Probably going to switch out the speakers in it at some point. I'm sure they are really cheap Celestions. Not in a huge hurry to do it though. I doubt the chicks dancing upfront will notice whether or not my cabinet has some Vintage 30's or cheap Celestions in it. I was thinking of putting the EVH Celestions in it since I really like the ones in my EVH cab and I have a feeling I'm going to start using this smaller setup on a pretty regular basis. Any of you guys sizing down cause of the mileage starting to add up? It's not the years it's the mileage!

How do you like the 5150 combo vs the 5150 III? Is it worth the jump in money?

The 5150 III smokes the combo. No comparison. I basically slave the the combo off of the 5150 III when I run stereo. I'm just using it's power amp section for the right side of the stereo spectrum. The combo is nice on it's own though. I bought it so I could basically still have that 5150 sound when I don't want or can't bring a halfstack to shows. It sounds great just not quite the bottom end of the head version which is to be expected. Still a quality amp though.

I feel your pain. I started to have back pain about 5 years ago and I too went from a 4x12 to a 2x12. I don't miss the bigger cab and my back loves me for it. I also load all my gear in using a dolly. Helps me out especially at 2 in the morning.

Did not gel with the Marshall cab at all. It went back to the store. I decided to fork out a little extra and go with the Mesa Boogie Recto 2x12 cab with Vintage 30's. Much happier now. I really wanted an Earcandy cab in white to match my 5150 III but it was a little on the pricey side. I won't be using a 2x12 that much so it was hard to justify spending a lot on one. Maybe later on down the line.

Picked up a used but in superb condition black 5150 III for $975 off of craiglist today. I've been wanting a backup for my ivory one and didn't want to buy a brand new one. I thought $975 was a steal.
