While waiting for the paint on my VHI and 5150 to cure enough to finish, I've pieced together everything for a Frankenstrat. The body is an Eden (very cheap), the neck is Mighty Mite (beautiful birdseye maple), pickup is a Dragonfire (not sure how it sounds but it was cheap), and the trem is a Floyd knock-off that I got for very low $$ (it actually says "Licensed by Floyd Rosd". Rosd??) lol
Anyway, I don't mind the inaccuracies because it's just going to be on display. Here are some pics:

Anyone know how to get the black insert out of the truss rod adjuster cavity? I'd like to put a maple plug in there to hide it.
Also, the single coil has the phenolic cap, I didn't have it when I snapped these pics. |

I can't decide if I want to burn my headstock or not. At first I thought "no" because I'm not relic-ing it, but the more I look at it, the burns are one of the things that captured the essence of the guitar. I think I'll do it once my string retainer comes in...
What's wrong with the pics? Can everyone else see them? |

Normal Fender non-CBS headstock shape. Might look a little odd because I didn't take the picture straight on; I was off to the side just a little bit. |

I hit it with 3 coats of primer (after about 5 coats of sanding sealer). After sanding the sealer, it felt and looked very smooth! It doesn't show in this pic, but you can still see the wood grain; I'm hoping it's just because the primer is thin, black, and really exaggerates the grain. When I run my fingers on it, I can barely feel it.

Yeah...it's birdseye. Seriously, I think you guys are trippin' on something. 
It's a standard, non-CBS headstock shape. The angle of the picture probably makes it look mis-shaped. The only difference is that the truss rod adjustment is on the headstock; maybe that's what's throwing you off. I'd like to pull the black insert out so I can put a flush maple plus in there to hide it. Anyone know how to get the black insert out? |

Here she is...ready for a little more relic-ing. Painted the red yesterday and just finished pulling the tape off this morning. Just got a few touch-ups to do. I think I'm going to clearcoat it after relic-ing.
