I regret Harry went Haywire & you had to deal with Harry's onslaught.
Yet, I applaud how you handled incident - correct & exemplary.
Your explanation to Haywire was generous.
So, Harry's last post was ultimately, to quote Harry, a "Cheapshot."
Indeed, a reasonable prudent person ("most" & minimum expectation for an unincarcerated person) would find Haywire's behavior, rant & esp. final posting immature, irrational, unacceptable, uncalled-for, unprofessional, unprovoked & unreasonable.

I. What possibly troubles Haywire Harry?
A. Is Haywire's present behavior abnormal, characteristic, frequent, normal, occassional, rare or uncharacteristic?
II. Whether Haywire:
A. Is over-sensitive or Endures:
1. A bad day or tough times ("bad day"); or
2. Suffering from Bipolar Disorder, Depression, Manic Depression, Paranoia/Schizophrenia, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder or another related ailment or disorder ("disorder").
B. Enduring a bad day, disorder or over-sensitivity caused Harry to:
1. Become upset; &
2. Therefore vent & react inappropriate:
a. Uncontrollable or unintentional; &
b. Per disorder symptoms & treatment side-effect expectaions.

| regardless of the outcome he should have still been more respectful to Andre's wishes. The fact that it was removed is irellevant since there was another post to which other members benefit from the opportunity, clearly this was selfish of him. If he feels that he needs to convey this message to Wolfy personally then he should have IMed him personally and not use the message board as his private IM. |

Haywire needed to grant:
1. Andre's wishes more respect; &
2. Especially so as Andre explained to Harry twice & patiently.

Agreed James. There was already 1 birthday thread for wolfy, a 2nd is just not warranted... especially since he DID even wish Scott a happy bday in there! So, I had figured that he didn't realize that the thread was for Scott, because it wasn't titled anything Wolfy... just "A happy early birthday"... so, I just re-labeled hers to include Wolfy's name.

Anyways. Devon, this isn't the 1st time he's gone on these rants. I do believe that he falls into several of your II., A., 2. catagories... and I'm not joking about it either. My father (whom I never really knew) fell into a couple of those, so I have done quite a bit of research on those disorder types. Harry fits the profile.
I think the problem is, a while back, he REALLY wanted to become a moderator of the site. But then he was never asked to participate. One day, he just snapped on us. I guess he realizes he has some sort of issue... which is why he named himself appropriately. He definately goes Haywire at times.

I changed his "F#cking" to *bleep*, and emailed him...
My favorite though, is his IM response back to me when I told him about his use of profanity when he used the words "F#cking"... his very last line is a classic that still rings in my ears:

Haywire Harry complains & emulates Oscar the Grouch somewhat.
But Oscar did not threaten, seek fights or front hostility or entitlement claims.
Further, Oscar did express gratitude & acknowledge standing corrected.
Harry possibly holds deep personal issues.
All here wish Harry & others with possible personal issues wellness.
Yet, Harry pushes "woe is me; I'm an Halen.com victim" too far.
Harry should know Halen.com is not a 5th grade class Andre teaches.
At least 1 5th-grader encourages peers to dislike teacher & disrupt despite quality of teacher.
5th graders are 10 - 11 years old.
Harry is 48.
Harry should realize:
1. Reasonable compassion & patience are not limitless; &
2. Believing Andre, et al. are out to get Harry false complete. |

Ummmmm, wow......I just got to read this thread and didn't know I had been behaving so badly (while I was away, no less)!! By that I mean, right now I'm limited to one hour at a local library and it's just time enough to take a peek at emails, messages and a few mod things.....so I hadn't read Harry's stuff. He's concerned me for some time now and I always did find his posts to be overshadowed by a bit of a"persecution complex", to say the least.....
I truly hope Scott, that this or anything else I might have done did not detract from you having the best of birthdays?? All I wanted to do was wish my friend a Happy Birthday (even tho' it was early, see, the library isn't open on Sundays.....hope you enjoyed your day on the beach)!! |

Ya, I don't quite understand why he took removing a duplicate forum post so personal. We remove stuff like that ALL THE TIME. He just seemed to think that we were "out to get him". Can't understand why.
And as for the decision to suspend him, I'm sure at times I can seem to be a bit stern... but I think ultimately I try to treat every situation and everyone fairly. In this case, he just kept pushing himself over the edge... until there was no more ledge left for him to stand on. This was entirely self induced... and over something as petty as removing a duplicate forum post. Go figure.  |

Andre', you are FAR from being ANY of the things Harry called you!! In fact, you're completely the opposite!!
I think, (and this site is proof enough) that you are one of the most honorable, dedicated, generous, and completely unselfish people that I have never met!!!  And the fact that you ARE the 'boss' here, I think his reaction was WAY off base!
I think you did the right thing!
