| I vaguely remember reading something that mouth cancer tends to be a result of chewing tobacco and drinking alcohol, where as lung cancer and emphasema are typical of smoking. I could be wrong tho.

Either way - I'm sure smoking is not going to help the situation. Yeah, he's cancer free now, but he's taking a big risk if he's choosing to continue to smoke. I think once you've had cancer, there is always a risk of it reoccuring.

When I first heard Eddie had mouth cancer, I thought "well, the guy seems to smoke and drink a lot, so I'm not that surprised". However, I did feel bad for him. He started smoking when smoking was "in", and the detrimental health effects were not as apparent. My mom started in the 50's, and ended up having to quit years later because of smoker's emphasema. It was extremely difficult for her. I wonder if she ever would have started if she had known back then what they know now about smoking. It kind of blows me away that with all the info out there today that young people continue to pick up the habit.

When the info came out about Eddie's cancer, both my mom and I went to the Pleasure Dome and posted well wishes for him. Self induced or not, cancer is a scary awful thing to go thru.

I have to admit tho, if he continues to smoke and drink, and ends up having the cancer come back, I might not feel as sympathetic as before. |
