Ha! Maybe you saw my post on the Super Red/Schwinn thread. All it takes is a little crappy lighting!
Went over 40k at about 9PM last night. I helped with the final few dozen or so when I saw how close it was...Cheers! |

Saw your post there, yes indeed. And it's true; red is amazingly maleable based on environmental/lighting conditions.
As for the count; awe... that's artificial inflation then... |

I'm definitely feeling that build urge... especially seeing QGS all that distance away...

Just tell me where you want the parts shipped...
...and where to show up for the launch party! QGS will be there! |

...I believe you have my address... just send parts there... =]
That would be quite the launch. A 'Jemfest' style get-together would certainly be fun and interesting, wouldn't it? |

| I need to know how much paint you would recommend for each different colour, because I have been told that the red is thiner than the black and white. I am currently painting my Frankie, it has 2 thin layers of black so far. |

Raw wood; most of the grain filled - especially front and back (sides are best to show a little more grain)
Black; until it's solidly black, but ideally not too thick; the 'blow-outs' down to wood will feel better.
White; until it's basically just barely white, and then a little more - again, the thickness will work against you for relic work (if you're doing relic work).
Red; trickiest, as this completely depends upon your paint. The show-through is the guiding principal here... ideally, actually fairly thick and, as described elsewhere on the forum, as 'goopy' looking as possible, as Ed's actual paint appears to have been /very/ translucent, and hence allowed QUITE a bit of buildup without actually becoming totally opaque in the process...
In reality, though, modern paints work against this, as the colour builds up much more quickly, so you'll wind up having to just go by look most likely.
All of the above is very subjective, dependent upon your paint (and even the temperature at which you spray it, etc.).
For instance, I couldn't tell you how many coats of each are on QGS; I went by the above guiding principles (except that I didn't grain-fill it as much as I should have)...
Hope this helps.
Cheers. |
