Post subject: Six Frankenstrats (Sorta!)

Here they are, standing like suspects in a police line-up,... six "Frankenstrats"...
Each one a one-of-a-kind variation on Ed's crappy piece of crap guitar. Each one with it's own sound and personality. Each one with it's own unique combination of pick-ups and hardware.
The bodies are Musikraft, Divebomb and Frankenstraat (I own KnE Franky bodies, but I didn't use any for these builds), the necks are Musikraft, Divebomb and one vintage Kramer neck.
For bridge pick-ups I used the EVH Frankenstein, the SD IM1, a SD Custom Custom, a SD Brobucker and a SD '59.
All the neck pick-ups are active via a 500k pull/push pot. The majority are SD SSL-1s, but I also used a Replicator (thanks Johnny62!) and a SD Surf Antiquity.
Each Floyd is equipped with a different big block. I installed titanium, brass, stainless steel, tungsten and copper. If you look closley, you'll also see some hardware color swaps on the Floyds as well as some stainless steel upgrades. |

awwwwwwwww jimi you know I love these. First time I saw them I thought it was a photoshop job because it blew my mind.  Just spectacular, both in execution and inspiration, I love the idea/thinking behind them. Fantastic and unique. Hats off sir. |

Yeah, the "Blue Franky" is one of my favorites!
It currently has a Relic EVH Frankenstein p/u and an all titanium Floyd Rose installed...

I've seen some of these you built in other posts... just killer! I've always wanted to do this. Especially a tobacco sunburst as I've always loved that awesome ragged out Strat w/ Floyd Rose that Michael J Fox had in some 80's magazine, and always wondered what a Frankie type of look to that would look like:

I do like that guitar!
The Music Zoo had a run of "Floyded" relic Strats made. Here's two examples...
The good news is that they looked and sounded great, but the bad news is that those 9.5" radius necks just killed it for me! |

Exactly! The radius on those is the only thing that suck, that and the horrendous price tag! I saw a few at the Dallas Guitar show two weekends ago. Granted they were at Guitar Center so pricing elsewhere would be better. |

holy s%&*, you shelled out the $$$ for the Titanium Floyd? arent those close to a grand? i can barely justify spending over $200 for a compplete guitar! lol

I agree. That may vary on how each one is set up at Fender. Or are they all like that? Whatever the case, I'm with you in that I'll build my own. |
