One thing I noticed just after posting... on the top pic from the Musician magazine cover is Franky is missing the scuffs on the semi vertical black stipe near his elbow and near the quarter (which is actually on the guitar in 'tails' with one screw as opposed to being on 'heads' with three screws as we've commonly seen it)

This scuffs appear evident in the second pic... which is odd because at first glance, I would have thought they were from the same photo shoot because of his shirt. Obviously not though...

Both pics are from the same photoshoot.

Well, to my knowledge, those scuffs occurred before the black. My guess is that the cover was edited, cause someone didn't like the franky's "unprofessional" look.

You are correct: the cover was, in fact, edited. Wink

Totally ridiculous! But in the end, as Steve well knows and has so amazingly demonstrated, it's the combination of all those little 'whatever' details that make the big picture mojo just pop and come to life in the end. Fantastic. A real milestone.

It's done with mirrors!!! Laughing

Seriously, though, Steve deserves the highest praise and total respect for this remarkable, inspirational work of functional art. It's simply incredible on so many different levels. Cool

QuiGon, that section you highlighted was exactly what caught my eye when i made comment about Steve catching every nuance of the stripes... it's truly awesome.

Steve, there are truly no words... speechless man.

(I'm blushing here chaps... thanks - you're too kind.)

Funny, that's one of my favourite little things that QuiGon has highlighted...
There seem to have been a lot of little 'abberations' while he was doing the taping for the red - I get the feeling that he wasn't taking a whole lot of time with it, and was stretching and cutting tape whimsically... and sometimes, probably tearing it sort of absently at the spots he wanted that stripe to stop... leaving little bits sticking up, bloated/skinny areas of striping... just a wild puzzle that, ironically, winds up taking nut-jobs like us HOURS upon HOURS to try to recreate...

Very surreal to see a shot like that of QGS that I didn't personally take...

Always the proud parent...

This was just intended as an appetizer. I’ll includes a fair amount of detail shots along the way, but I also want to relate my personal impressions and try to put some of the intangibles into words as much as possible.

Hope you enjoy all of the acolades you're about to receive (and not just from me, I'm certain...). You can add them to your collection! No one deserves them more!

Cheers!

While the debate on the other thread goes on I find it natural to refer to your work for reference ...

It's a very complex thing, for sure...
And it all comes down to Ed's accidents, handling, inspired but probably hasty tape work...
A couple of hours total for him... becomes dozens of ours for us... =]
Thanks for the above... cheers.
