Looks good man. If you want, You could add some weird square shaped relic marks on the back right below the spring cavity, but it's a no biggie. Also, those lines around the gull, are those the right width? Is that it fat?

missing round circle in middle pup cavity where jem was. squiggle is choppy. put a piece of tape on a cutting board, draw it nice and smooth, then cut it and lay it on the body.
nice job otherwise! FYI that it always looks funny when first sprayed but will come together after you use steel wool to relic. also remember to apply just enough red to let black show through. and scratch the surface up pretty good before shooting red.
have fun!

Noobie Mistake:

OK, so I hit my Frankie with the Super Red II. But, my numerous Noobie mistakes finally caught up to me. I used Acrylic Enamel on the Black and White, but the Super Red was Lacquer. Opps - as soon as I started pulling the tape I new I was screwed... Big sheets of the red would pull off with the tape. After a few hours of being pissed, I decided my pity party was over.

I was never fully satisfied with the KNE body (although the new Azusa looks awesome!). I knew I had put on way too much black paint, as I had absolutely no grain showing through. So I decided to ordered a new body from Divebomb and while I wait I figured I would start over with the KNE body I had. I completely took the body down to the bare wood and started over with all Lacquer paints and clear coat.

Well, here is my first (almost) completed Frankie. I still need to add some tape residual.

When I get the Divebomb body, I will start my second.

Please tell me what you think. I must admit, as I post this I am feeling pretty great about the entire project. I know I made a few mistakes, but there is always number two...

Thanks for the positive comments. Again, without this forum, I never could have accomplished this build.

I am super pleased with the overall build. I just set the intonation late last night and it sounds great. I have the EVH Frankenstein pickup in there. I am super impressed with that pickup. To my ears it is one of the best classic rock pick ups available today and will get you into the realm of the elusive Brown sound on most amps. All harmonics leap out of the guitar with this pickup without the pickup being overly Hot?

I have a few small things left to do on the build. Does anyone know how to strip some of the glue off of duct tape. I want to transfer tape residual to a few areas - upper horn, around the jack, etc...

you can use black silicone adhesive from an auto parts store to simulate the adhesive on the upper horn. a couple wear spots on the lower left look like they were done with a dremmel. use an exacto to clean the edges up and make it look more like the paint lifted/peeled, rather than wore down to wood. superb first build!
