Post subject: Charvel Art Series:Body, Neck and Parts questions?Show yours  PostPosted: Feb 20, 2009 - 08:41 PM

Hi guys,

maybe some members know my first VH project... however...

Few weeks ago, I had the reputation to play for few minutes on an original Charvel EVH Art Series, an I really was impressed! The guitar looks, sounds and plays PERFECT!! The action was low to the maximum but still no buzzing and playing like melting butter!

The problem is that the guitar is not prduced anymore, you only can find some used on ebay, and a few seller who are selling new for horrible prices. However, they are to far (I live in Germany and would like to check before buy) and too expensive.

I decided to build my own "PERFECT" Charvel EVH Art Series REPLICA and need some further from the pros here!

Here is what I find out on a Internet research:

Scale: 25 3/4"
Body: Premium Basswood
Neck: Quarter-sawn Maple
Fretboard: 22-frets Maple with black dot inlays
Tremolo: Original Floyd Rose with EVH D-Tuna
Tuners: Schaller M6 Mini tuners
Hardware: Chrome
Electronics/Pickups: EVH Custom wound
Pickup Selector: N/A
Control: 1 (marked as tone) volume

But to be absolute accurate, I need a lot more further information:

Body: What Kind of shape is it? A standard Fender? Mesures?
Neck: Profile of the neck?
Fretboard: Fretboard radius??
Fretsize: Wich Frets are used?
Pickups: Somebody knows the specs (Ohms, Magnet etc..)?
Control: Wich manufaturer
Painting: Wich paint was used, looks like polyester or urethan finish??

I will be thankfull to evrybody who can give me pertinent advise.

Also questions about neckplate & decals

Thank you

I wouldn't worry about fret wire or pickup, I'd put whatever you like on it.
All I can find about the frets is that they are jumbo. Every other EVH guitar that said that had Dunlop 6105 fret wire on it.

The neck, as I recall it, had the same asymmetrical profile as the Wolfgang.

I can't find any other info on this guitar other than what has been posted.

I know the pot was made by CTS. Other than that, I can't help.

What is special / different with the shaping comparing the Charvel Sandimas Body with a Stratbody?

Where can I get a replacement Body and replacement neck, wich are pretty same like the original EVH Charvel Art?

I saw few Interesting mighty mite necks? Is it for sure with the 10"-16" fretboard compound radius? What about the neck profile (C or D shape)?

Does Charvel also sell parts only? Who is producing the necks and the bodys for charvel, and is there any supplier?

Here the original Factory Settings of Charvels EVH Art Series!

I think it will be helpfull to evrybody who likes to adjust and setup his EVH Charvel himself and not by a luthier!

Here's the original settings I've got directly from Charvel (Fender):

Can anybody convert the measures to millimeters? Embarassed
