Has anyone ever used or owned one of these?

I'm getting a Peavey Windsor amp head for christmas, and I was planning on buying a Power Soak attenuater off ebay afterwords.

So are these good attenuaters?

Yeah, they're good. I've never really found one I can say I hate. Andre and Wes both use one, and I know Wes likes his a lot.

It's one of few available, definitely up there in the top 3 I'd buy.

Their usually cheap on ebay...I've only seen them go for $50-$70, seems like a really good deal for something that I've only heard good things about!

Yeah, I REALLY love the THD. I used to have one, but I sold it when I switched to rack preamps and power amps. Now I need another one since I have another head.

Does a tube amp with an attenuater between the head and cab distort really good when it's volume is turned all the way up on the head and then brought back down on the attenuater?

I use a Marshall MG100HDFX with the gain at 6 and a Boss Super Overdrive (all settings at 60%)in between the guitar and amp. So would a tube amp with the set up menchioned above have as good distortion?

I've been using a power soak between a 5150 head and a 6505 cabinet for years and it works well.

The question I'm asking is will the amp distort the same as a solid state amp with an overdrive pedal in front of it?

I've never turned a tube amp all the way so I don't really know what they sound like cranked?

it should if the amp has real good gain.
