I can understand being concerned about Ed. We all know that I have made a trip or two to rehab over the years myself. Rehab is humilating and degrating thing to go through, you will have to admit and do things that are very personal to you and you a lone. As long as Ed is in rehab he is in good hands, when the time for real concern comes is when he is out and trying to stay sober. That is all I was trying to say in my earlier post.
Now I'm going to be the wise cracking big mouthed I all ways am.
Some of us don't post as much as others but we've been around a while. |

| I saw a few comments like that on some other board when I searched for evh in rehab. I dont remember what I clicked on. its probobly not true though. |

Tracy, thank you for sharing that very personal info with us......I think most of us understand that Ed is going to have a tough spell to face before he can move ahead. |

That must come from that bogus piece of "news":

you do realize the simple fact that continuing to smoke after mouth cancer is also a reason for help. if you by the pic crap then its really a sad world. val didnt leave because ed sucks on pics. her mom did a interview in people after the divorce was announced saying val loves ed very much but she wont stick around and help those that wont help themselves. you think someone who beat mouth cancer would quite smoking and not try and blame metal piicks you used on one album and tour. come on.

Whether not not Ed needs help, smoking is a hard habbit to quit..What if Ed does come on here and read the topics? It seems like you are very negative on everything.. I'm not trying to start anything, it's just you seem to be very negative about everthing..  As a fan, I cant be negative, plus if he does come on here and look around, you wont see me talking negative about him, because I dont want him to see that.. I know some of you are concerned and think he needs help, but it's his life and he can do what ever he wants..

Ok.....I need to put my two cents in. As you can see, I am a LONG time member (longer than most "mods") and have been a Van Halen fan longer than most of the people in here. However, I don't post very much because I simply use this site as a means of information. Quite frankly, you people need a reality check here. PLEASE TAKE NOTE: I am ALL for Ed's recovery and wish him all the best. But, the rose colored glasses need to go back in the drawer. If you don't believe me, just take a look at the past here with this thread. First he "WAS NOT" in rehab, then we find that HE WAS, blah blah blah.... I'm taking a different stand on this. And it is my hope that he proves me wrong, but needless to say, he has let us down. I for one was VERY upset when I shelled out the dollars to see him during this last tour on two different occasions and he was sloshed both times! His playing was WAY below what he is capable of doing. Then VR has to represent them at the induction!
I know I'll probably upset a lot of you here, but by god that's the way I feel about it. If you don't feel this way, fine. Place him on your pedestal, put on the rose glasses, and call it good. But for me, I'll just say this....I'm 100% for you Ed. Kick this thing once and for all. Make us proud of you again. Give us something that only you can give. I have been behind you through thick and thin, so please don't let me down!!!!!!!!! |

Yes, it's been almost 30 days. However, he could be doing a longer stint than that. There are 90 programs, etc. Look at James Hetfield....I think he was in for the better part of 6 months, if I'm remembering correctly.
Could be a while before we hear anything, but like a lot of others here, I sure would like a thumbs up, or "Eddie's workin' hard, doing o.k.", some thing along those lines. But reality is, we might not hear anything for a long while.
At this point, as long as I'm not reading his obituary somewhere, I'm a fairly happy camper. |

| I heard a rumor that he was in a similar program Makenze Phillip's used to kick the habit the last time. I think she was there for 8 months so if Ed's in a program like that we may not see or hear from him till the end of the year. |
