| I don't know if you guys listened to Dave's show this morning, according to him he was informed today that Van Halens publicist confirmed rumors this morning with regards to Van Halens search for a singer. He called the Star Search TV show an embarrassment to the fragile band whose medical conditions will only allow them a 3 month tour during this summer which will no doubt flop. He further stated that they will never fill the stadiums like the original line up did and compared the average 6000 seats daily attendance per Sammy days to the 22,000 seats per average show of the original line up. He also joked about the record sales per Sammy days stating they never sold half the amount of the original line up nation wide and world wide. Man, Dave went off on Eddie stating that when the show comes about the Ed will be never be able to make it to the couch, not due to substance abuse but rather chemical abuse. What are you trying to say Dave? He then boasted that the original line up was offered as much as the Rolling Stones for a re-union tour and publicly told the band to stop wining like a bunch of little girls and lets do it already and then go our separate ways. Needless to say Dave went to the extreme today... |

| I'm shocked!!! I dont know if this is good or bad but I'd love to see Van Halen get some publicity. They've been dormant for way too long. |

Boy, that's interesting, Frankenstraat!! We don't get Dave's show here in Detroit, so I appreciate the summary.<br><br> Nothing like talk of the possibility of a little competition to get Dave fired up!! He makes some valid statements, tho', and I'm not sure I disagree with too much of what he says. <br><br>I want to believe that ultimately Ed and Al have made/will make the "right" decision. The "right" decision being whatever Ed and Al deem to be beneficial for themselves and the future of their band.  <br><br>At least the name "Van Halen" is on the lips of many once again!!  |

Simon, I'm not going to believe it until it is actually happening. As you know, this isn't the first time this rumor has surfaced and it just doesn't seem like something our boys would consider. Let's wait and see, 'kay??  |

Really, I'm sure he won't mind and perhaps we can put these rumors to rest once and for all!!  <br><br>OR, another possibility (and a much more realistic one, I'm sure) is that Bonnie should call the 2dorks and get them to call Ed and ask him straight out!! | Now the question is, will Roth show up for the auditions? Just for kicks??<br><br>I'm split down the middle on the whole "should they or shouldn't they do ROCK STAR" issue. I personally hate reality shows. Shows like American Idol are nothing but a karaoke contest. And I do worry about public acceptance of VH using this as an avenue to find a new singer. Their current fanbase is either pro-Sammy, or pro-Dave, and I don't know if they'd accept anyone else.<br><br>On the other hand, if they could find somebody who is a healthy mix between DLR and SH, they could be on to something. It could open up their entire song catalog. And there's the added plus of a new studio release/tour. <br><br>I'd prefer to hear something from the VH camp on this, but that prob won't happen until a couple of months before the show is due to air. |

| All I can say is WOW.Dave hit the nail on the head on a lot of things.He has me re-thinking this RockStar II thing.I liked the idea because we get to see the band every week but Dave has me wondering now.I don't agree with him bringing Eds health up.Thats not the way to the heart of a old friend.If you know Ed and his past with Dave at all, you'll know that Dave just pissed him off.But if thats what it takes then oh well.I mean life is short.Too short to have the greatest band on the planet sitting on the sidelines while the Stones drag their tired legs out on the road.Just My 0.02.. |
